First Nutcracker

I've been sick this last week so I hope its okay that I'm starting late.

One of my best memories as a child was seeing my first performance of the Nutcracker. I was 3 and had started taking dance lessons that fall. My momma decided since I loved ballet so much that she was going to take me to see my sister who was 8 at time and had a small role as one of the children in the first act. I remember getting dressed up and feeling like a big girl. I remember sitting in my momma's lap completely entraced by the music and story of a young girl and her nutcracker prince. Others in my family
were so surprised that I was completely quite and enjoyed the ballet so much.

I remember watching the dancers and wondering how they stood on their toes for so long. I remember the beautiful costumes and the musicians playing as these women and men who seemed to defy gravity with their movements. I remember the thrill of the story especially the fight of the mouse king. Even at 3 I knew I wanted to be a dancer.

After the show I got to meet the Sugar Plum Fairy. I was so excited to be up close to these beautiful and talented people. I remember dreaming of dance just like them. For months afterwards I told everyone I wanted to be a Dancer when I grew up. I danced around the house practicing everyday what I learned in dance class. Even at that early of an age I knew I would one day be on a stage in the spotlight.
