Day 1: The coming of fall

I was trying to think of a good memory to start with but I couldn't really at the moment.
So, instead an overall experience.

I remember when I was little and asked my favorite season I would always say winter. Or sometimes summer, or whatever season it was. I actually do like most of the seasons (or whatever little we get of them down here in Florida) But when I lived in Indiana I remembered what my favorite season is. I love fall when the leaves start turning colors.

Even though in Florida we don't really have much of fall. I love the atmosphere of Fall. First it starts showing up slowly by school supplies coming in. I have always loved school, even if I didn't love every class, or some of my other classmates didn't like me. It also seemed like a fresh start every year to be exposed to new things.

While, sadly, I haven't been able to go back to school for a few years I still love buying new school supplies.

Also, fall always means that the Halloween stuff will also slowly start to come out. Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays, they have such cute stuff that comes out. I am hoping this year I will be able to dress up this Halloween, maybe go to a few parties. We shall see though.

As, I was writing I thought of a couple fun fall memories.

The first I remember my first official fall day when I lived in Indiana. There was a nice breeze, and the piles of leaves were on the ground. I had classes, and a student government meeting. It was such a nice day after the meeting I had decided to just walk.

I ended up walking to the village. Which this area right off campus where most of the stores to buy textbooks are, and also some other little businesses like a used bookstore called the White Rabbit. I don't remember actually buying many things in the stores, but I wandered through most of the stores, and took the long way back to my dorm, past part of frat row, just so I could enjoy the warm air.

Another fun fall memory. When I did my internship, which was at the prosecutor's office, we had to do a police ride along. Since I had to catch the bus to go downtown, and I ended up taking a day shift. (I could have asked my friend to drive me if I wanted a later shift, but I didn't want to impose anyone) The police officer I rode along with was a nice gentleman. We will call him Officer Ron.
We did go to a couple calls, but I may talk about that later, in a longer post.
His grandchildren lived in Florida (There seems to be a lot of florida/Indiana connections where ever I go) He had promised them he would take pictures of the leaves changing colors for them. So, a lot of the morning between calls we stopped and took pictures of all different color leaves. Bright red, shiny gold, multi shades of orange, and one tree that looked almost purplish.
It was a nice way to spend the afternoon.

It reminded me that sometimes it is okay to admire the pretty things along the way. Also, that work doesn't always have to be by the book, there is nothing wrong sometimes with little projects to help you get through the day

  1. Oh, oh, oh! So exciting that you've decided to chip in! I look forward to hearing them and seeing your side, especially if it is something I might have grown to see otherwise!

Brilliant thoughts, about Fall. I love the commenting about it being okay to admire things along the way. So true!
Made me think of us playing in the leaves in front of the house in Hanies City, actually.
    Oh sweet memories.
